Our Beef

At Hulsman Ranch, we take pride in offering 100% grass-fed, free-range beef, providing a tender and healthy alternative to mass-produced meats. We believe that the quality of meat matters, as the food we eat impacts our well-being, and its production reflects and influences the quality of our society. Here are some key differences with grass-fed beef:

  • Grass-fed meat is naturally lower in fat and calories.

  • Grass-fed animals have higher levels of Vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, compared to grain-fed animals.

  • Meat from grass-fed animals contains two to four times more “good” Omega-3 fats, essential for maintaining vital body systems.

Our Cuts

As a family of farmers, we have always cherished good food. Hulsman Ranch beef represents our commitment to sharing the abundance of our Lassen County mountain meadows. We personally transport our cattle to a small USDA-inspected facility for harvesting. Every cut is vacuum sealed and frozen to ensure quality and freshness.

A Note About Cooking Grass-fed Beef

Because they are leaner, grass-fed meats cook 20 to 30 percent faster than conventional products. They should be cooked over a hot but not searing flame. For the most succulent steaks, cook them to rare or medium-rare.

After removing the meat from the heat, keep in mind that it will continue to cook for several minutes. It's important to let the meat rest for at least 5 minutes for steaks and 10 minutes for roasts before cutting. While resting, cover the meat with a tent of foil to keep it warm. This technique will help maintain tenderness as the meat retains its natural juices.

The essence of the dining experience begins with the finest and simplest ingredients. We wholeheartedly invite you, your family, and friends to take a seat, relish our delicious beef, and partake in a memorable meal.
